🌿 Dark green foliage with dark marbled patterns • ☀️ Tolerates low light • 💧 Very low watering • 🌱 Ultra easy • 📏 H35 cm | Pot Ø12 cm

Sansevieria 'Black Coral', also known as Mother-in-law's Tongue, stands out from other Sansevierias by its dark green foliage with highly contrasting wavy marbled patterns — a dark and intricate graphic that gives it a distinctive character immediately recognizable. Native to the arid regions of West Africa, it shares the exceptional hardiness of all Sansevierias. Discover our entire Sansevieria collection.

Its wide, wavy leaves with a flared shape also visually distinguish it from varieties with strictly upright leaves — a more dynamic and organic silhouette. Our guide to plants for dark rooms explains how to make the most of its tolerance to low light.

Exposure & Location

Sansevieria 'Black Coral' perfectly tolerates low light — this is one of its main strengths. It adapts to conditions where most graphic plants would wither.

  • Exposure: indirect to low light — tolerates shade, avoid total darkness.
  • Ideal for: office, shelf, bedside table, bathroom, dimly lit hallway.
  • Temperature: 15 to 30 °C, tolerates fluctuations without issue.
  • Substrate: very well-draining — cactus and succulent soil with sand or perlite.

Watering & Care

  • Watering: very low — let the substrate dry completely between waterings. Our finger test is especially suitable for this plant.
  • Frequency: every 3 to 4 weeks in spring-summer, every 6 to 8 weeks in winter.
  • Drainage: essential — pot with drainage holes, very well-draining substrate, empty saucer after watering.
  • Fertilizer: every 8 to 12 weeks in spring-summer, diluted liquid fertilizer for green plants.
  • Cleaning: gently wipe leaves with a damp cloth to preserve the dark foliage’s shine.

Decor Ideas & Plant Combinations

Its dark marbled foliage acts as a strong visual anchor — it highlights lighter plants placed next to it and adds depth to any plant arrangement.

  • Maximum contrast: pair it with the bright silver Sansevieria Moonshine — two Sansevierias, two opposite colors, same shape, same care, an immediate graphic duo.
  • In a trio arrangement: add a trailing Golden Epipremnum — the bright yellow-green of the Pothos against the dark marbled green of the Black Coral and the silver of the Moonshine creates a very effective color progression.
  • Decorative pot: a matte white or light gray ceramic makes the dark foliage stand out by contrast — avoid dark tones that blend the foliage into the pot.

Verdeia Tips

  • Water even less than you think: in the low light conditions where it is often placed, the substrate takes much longer to dry — always wait until the top 5 centimeters are completely dry before watering.
  • Take advantage of its contrast: always place it next to plants with light or variegated foliage — its dark leaves express their full potential only in chromatic opposition.
  • Rotate the pot regularly: monthly rotation ensures symmetrical growth — without it, leaves gradually lean toward the light source, even if weak.

Great series!
Format: Kindle
I absolutely loved this entire series. All of the stories were lovely & very "real". I have read several books by all of these authors but none have been quite like these three. There was an extra sentiment of sunny & joy in these books. I don't know if it was the setting (the Cotwolds are such a delight) or they were all just "in the zone" but it was a delightful experience. Highly recommend!!

A little dissappointed
Format: Kindle
I expected more umph or something from this book written by this author. The book is generic and not memorable at all. However, I do appreciate the author's time and effort she put into writing this and I wish her all the best. Happy Reading to you

Fantastic!
Format: Kindle
There is much to love about this story. The setting is wonderful, with picturesque descriptions of the beautiful English village where most of the story takes place; a cast of fun, quirky characters who come to life as the chapters go by; and a fantastic pair of leading ladies with chemistry to spare. But what truly stands out is the sharp, witty banter between the characters throughout the story. Frequently writers will have strong dialog between the protagonists, but T. B. Markinson has managed to write an entire story full of brilliantly crafted dialog between all of the characters, leading to so many great moments that are humorous, emotional, witty, sarcastic, etc... It is a fantastic story to read. I received an ARC copy of this book.

Sweet small town romance.
Format: Kindle
This was a sweet love story. I enjoyed the chemistry between Josie and Harry and their banter. This was the first book I've read by this author and I'll be finding more of her books. Very enjoyable read

Well Done!
Format: Kindle
You just can’t go wrong with a T.B Markinson book, The first in this series starts of with two wayward souls that meet by chance in a quaint little town of Cotswolds village. Needless to say, fate brings them together in the most craziest situation... which never goes well when your dealing with a meddling family and it’s drama. Needles to say the author does a great job creating plenty of banter and word play between the two main characters. You can’t help but root for the two and pray they figure things out to give them a HEA...I can’t wait for the next two books in this series by two more of my favorite authors.
